Disastrous Movies

Okay, let's dig in. I'll start with the train wreck that is almost every spoof movie of the past 10 years. It all started with Scary Movie (2000) which was written by Shawn and Marlon Wayans, Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer and directed by Keenen Ivory Wayans. I thought it was hysterically funny but that was just because i was 10 when i watched it and it was rude, contained almost-sex scenes and i loved it when i understood a movie reference.

Scary Movie 2 (2001) was written by the Shawn, Marlon and a few others and was again directed by Keene Ivory Wayans. It is said that this is the worst of the scary movie collection although personally i think they just get worse and worse. It just goes to show the quality of the film that one year was enough for me to outgrow this novelty comedy.

The Wayans Brothers then past this dying torch to David Zucker, a man we should all know from his more popular spoof endeavors such as The Naked Gun Trilogy and Airplane!. David Zucker, Craig Mazin and Robert K Weiss were the creators of the next two Scary Movie installments. The only good thing David Zucker brought with him was Leslie Nielsen. These two spoofed films such as The Ring and War of the Worlds.

During this time Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer wrote and directed Date Movie (2006), Epic Movie (2007), Meet The Spartans (2008) and Disaster Movie (2008). All of these movies are barely worth a watch all being rated at around 2/10 on the IMDb viewer rating.

David Zucker and his merry men then released Superhero Movie (2008) starring Drake Ball, Tracey Morgan and Leslie Nielsen and containing parodies of Spiderman and The Fantastic Four. Although getting a higher IMDb rating than Jason and Aaron's attempts i doubt it is any masterpiece.

Now, one of the most annoying movie sagas is now being spoofed as Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer have released Vampires Suck (2010). Which makes me fear that we might have a Harry Potter spoof on the horizon.

On the 20th of December 2009 The Weinstein Company announced there will be a Scary Movie 5. Which i am sure we are all looking forward too *sarcasm*.

This collection of movies have been a springboard into the industry for Anna Faris, Shawn Wayans and Marlon Wayans and is also responsible for keeping Carmen Electra working.

So, Watch the classics and avoid anything that is "From the Guys That Brought You Scary Movie".
